Import transactions from a file

What you need

Prepare the file

  • Use a CSV file saved as UTF-8, or an Excel file. Only an Excel file's first sheet is read.
  • Put the column names in the first row, including Amount. Expenses need a minus sign, unless a Type column says expense or income.
  • Optional columns: Date, Category, Account, Currency and Note.
  • Write dates as 2026-09-27 and amounts with a period for decimals, such as 12.50.

Import it

  1. On the Transactions tab, touch and hold +, then tap Import File.
  2. Tap Choose File and pick the file.
  3. If Match Categories appears, choose a category or account for each one in the file, then tap Continue.
  4. Check the transactions, then tap the add button at the bottom.
  5. Tap Done.

The review works like a scan: see Review the details.

Common questions

It says “Couldn't find an amount column”

The first row must name the columns, and one of them must be Amount.

Some rows are missing

Transfers and rows without a readable amount aren't imported.

The dates are wrong

If every date in the file could be month first or day first, like 03/04/2026, Gradually follows your region. Change the dates to the 2026-03-04 form and import again.

Why are there new categories?

A category left as New on Match Categories is created when you tap Continue.
